* Assurances of affordable, quality health coverage for all Virginians.
* Health care access regardless of employment status.
* The elimination of barriers to coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions.
* Computerization of medical records that will help to reduce costs and improve quality and strengthen patients’ privacy rights.
* Identification and implementation of innovative approaches to areas of particular concern for Virginians: improvement of infant mortality rates, reducing obesity, and the reduction tobacco use. Virginia's citizens deserve nothing short of a plan that includes, at a minimum, these components.
* Allowing health insurance companies to compete across state lines.
* Encouraging tort reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits that drive up health care cost.
* Encouraging the use of job costing and managerial accounting principles to improve medical billing and hospital administration.
