Financial Stability
At United Virginia, we believe we are only as prosperous as our most impoverished. Ten percent of our fellow citizens live in poverty and most Virginians living in poverty work, but still cannot afford to make ends meet. Our citizens deserve nothing less than a comprehensive approach to support community wealth building through individual asset building and microenterprise development intiatives. We provide microenterprise development, including a peer lending fund, and community organizing to support approaches that include:
* Economic and community development in ailing neighborhoods.
* Innovative methods to prevent and reduce homelessness.
* Outreach, education and investments in energy efficient homes that both reduce costs and benefit the environment.
* Microenteprise development in clean technology industries.
Rural communities throughout the state safeguard our history and environmental heritage, supply our food, and play a growing role in science and innovation. They are however, confronted with numerous challenges. Broad-based efforts United Virginia leads to develop rural microenteprises in Virginia are intended to strengthen and enhance financial opportunities in the Commonwealth’s robust rural regions.
